  1. How will I know that MLEB has received my course submission package?

MLEB will acknowledge receipt of all completed course application packages via e-mail.

  1. I am changing the instructor who has been presenting my course.  Do I have to advise MLEB and is there are charge for this change?

When MLEB approves a course it simultaneously approves the course presenter/instructor.  This person(s) is considered to be an intricate and significant part of the certified course, therefore, any change in that presenter/instructor will a) require immediate notification to MLEB and b) be construed as a major modification in the original approval and therefore, require a fee of $100 for every change in presenter/instructor.

  1. How long do I have to keep the certificates of completion?

You must comply with the current MLEB rules,  but never less than 5 years.

  1. Must a course owner or instructor be licensed by the State of Oregon Department of Education's Private Career Schools Statutes?

It is up to the Course owner to determine with the Department of Education whether licensing is required and if so they must comply with the Department's requirements.  Oregon Department of Education's website is: http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/results/?id=83

  1. Is the application fee refundable if my course application is rejected?

No. The application fee in all cases in non-refundable.  Even if a course has been rejected a great deal of time and expense has been expended to make that determination.  The application fee is intended to cover those expenses.

  1. Who gives MLEB the authority to review courses?

The Mortgage Lending Education Board (MLEB) was granted the authority by the State of Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, a Division of Finance and Corporate Securities.  The authority was given to this department by the 2001 Legislature through the new revisions of Chapter 59.

  1. What are the Attendance Requirements for Live Courses?

Live courses require 100% attendance. If a loan originator misses more than 5 minutes of any course the student can not receive credit for the course. If a course provider is found in violation of this requirement, the course will be revoked and not be allowed to be taught again. One course hour is equal to 50 minutes of classroom time
